This is a life insurance policy which pays you a tax free monthly income should you be no longer able to work due to an accident or sickness.
This income can be used to continue paying your financial commitments and any household bills you may encounter. This is also sometimes known as Self employed sickness insurance.

Self Employed Income Protection Insurance
Income protection cover for the self employed will pay you a regular monthly sum of money if you are off work due to an illness or disability. This monthly income is tax free and is usually around 50%-70% of your regular monthly income.
Your payments will continue until you are fit enough to resume work or until you reach your agreed retirement age.
Please note that income protection will only cover the self employed against illness or disability and will not cover against redundancy / unemployment.
