What is Mortgage Life Insurance?
Also known as Mortgage Payment Protection Insurance or MPPI for short. It is a variation of ASU cover (Accident, Sickness & Unemployment Insurance) which is directly linked to your mortgage and will pay you a tax free monthly amount to help cover your mortgage should you be unable to work due to an accident, sickness or being made redundant.
Why do I need Mortgage Life Insurance?
Well it’s a bit of an obvious one but what would happen if you where involved in an accident or became sick and was no longer able to work or was made redundant?
Could you and / or your family continue to pay your mortgage whilst you are off work and without your income?
Most employers will only pay you a maximum of 4 weeks sick pay and then you must rely on state benefits for your income so if you own your own home and have a mortgage on it then it could be a very wise decision to protect your re-payments with a Mortgage Life Insurance Policy.
