What is Accident Insurance / ASU Cover?
Also known as ASU cover or Accident, Sickness & Unemployment Insurance, It is a UK life insurance policy which pays the policy holder a tax free monthly income should they be unable to work due to having an accident, becoming sick or being made redundant by their employer.
Is it the same as Income Protection Insurance?
Accident insurance differs from income protection in that it is more of a short term insurance as it will only cover you for 1-2 years dependent upon your provider.
Income protection Insurance will cover you against illness or disability but does not include redundancy cover. However, this policy will continue to pay you a tax free monthly income until you are capable of returning to work or until your chosen retirement age.
